V. Mageshwaran | Dr. V. Mageshwaran did his graduation in Agriculture and post
graduation in Agricultural Microbiology from Tamil Nadu Agricultural
University (TNAU), Coimbatore and pursued his doctoral degree in
Microbiology from IARI, New Delhi. He joined Agricultural Research
Service (ARS) in Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New
Delhi in 2009. He served at ICAR- Central Institute for Research on
Cotton Technology (ICAR-CIRCOT), Mumbai as Scientist during 2010
to 2019. Currently he is working as Scientist (sr. scale) at ICARNational
Bureau of Agriculturally Important Microorganisms (ICARNBAIM),
Mau Nath Bhanjan, U.P. His specialization is Soil Microbiology and Fermentation
Technology. He has published more than 40 research articles in reputed journals. He has published
number of technical bulletins, popular articles, book chapters etc. and received awards in his eld of
research. |

Dr. K. Jeevanandan | Dr. K. Jeevanandan did his graduation in Agriculture and post
graduation in Agricultural Microbiology from TNAU, Coimbatore and
pursed his doctoral degree in Microbiology from IARI, New Delhi. He
joined Agricultural Research Service in ICAR, New Delhi in 2009. He
served at ICAR- Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan
(VPKAS), Almora during 2010-2013. Currently he is working as
Agricultural Ofcer in Department of Agriculture, Tamil Nadu. His
specialization is Soil Microbiology. He has published research articles in
this eld and presented research papers in national seminars and
conferences. |
Book Description
Microbiology is a branch of science has much relevance in day to day activities of human life. This branch of science nds its applications in agriculture, medical, veterinary, dairy, industry, environment, space etc. This book specially focused on microbiology applications on agriculture keeping in view of agriculture graduates; post graduates in agriculture specialized in microbiology and faculties engaging in teaching of agricultural microbiology. This book consists of 1000 objective questions divided into four parts viz., I. Choose the best answers (660 nos.), II. Fill in the blanks (150 nos.), III. True or False (150 nos.), IV. Matching (40 nos.). The objective questions deals with topics like basic microbiology, microbial taxonomy, microbial genetics, food and industrial microbiology and soil and environmental microbiology. In the eld of agriculture, a large number of competitive books consisting of objective questions are available in the market especially for subjects like plant breeding, plant genetics, entomology, plant pathology, soil science etc. However, no such books are available for the subject, agricultural microbiology. Based on this urgent requirement, this book was made to address the need of students who are preparing for Agricultural Research Service, IARI PhD entrance exam and other competitive exams in the eld of agricultural microbiology. At this juncture, I acknowledge my parents, teachers, friends, family especially my wife and son for their kind support for preparation of this book.
