Book Description
Periodontitis is a common chronic infectious disease caused by pathogenic microorganisms that affect the supporting structures of the teeth, resulting in progressive tissue destruction and eventual tooth loss. Diagnosis and treatment planning in periodontitis usually rely on clinical and radiographic ndings. They reect past periodontal activity but lack the sensitivity and specicity to detect current disease at specic sites or to predict future attachment loss.
