Chromosomes contain the genetic material. It consists primarily of DNA and proteins with a small amount of RNA, and is duplicated and transmitted via mitosis or meiosis to the next cell generation .The chief function of the genetic material is to store information required to generate an organism. Chromosomes are made of DNA and each contains genes in a linear order.1Genes are spread throughout the chromosome. A typical chromosome contain between a few hundred and several thousand different genes .Human body cells contain 46 chromosomes in 23 pairs – one of each pair inherited from each parent.2 DNA sequences are necessary for synthesis of RNA and cellular protein proper segregation of chromosomes, Replication of chromosomes, Compaction of chromosomes, E. Strasburger discovered thread like structure called chromosome 3 ,and W.Waldeyer Coined the term Chromosme.4
