Women constitute one half of the world’s population. Women entrepreneurs encompass approximately one third of all entrepreneurs worldwide. In India women as an independent target group account for about 586 million and represent half of the country’s total population as per the 2011 census report. Women in the economically active age group 15-59 years count for 58.4 % of the women population in India (Tenth Five Year Plan, 2002-2007). In the era of globalization women in India have assumed greater responsibility, both at home and in the world of work. They have entered all elds of business, industry and service sectors. There has been a massive growth in women’s employment in informal sectors. Realising the enormous potential and power of women the Government of India at the center and state and the Non- Government Organisations have promoted empowerment and entrepreneurship programs to employ the same in nation building and economic development. This study aims to nd the causal relationship between empowerment and entrepreneurship effectiveness of women entrepreneurs.
