Ashaq Hussain Mir
Ashaq Hussain Mir is a research scholar in Drug Therapeutics and Neurobiology Laboratory at Department of Biotechnology, University of Kashmir. He completed his masters in Biotechnology from University of Kashmir. After completing masters, he qualied CSIRNET, GATE and JKSET examinations. During the course of his research work in the Lab since 2014, he worked on problem related to synergistic therapeutic effect of natural products on the amelioration of gliomas in different glioma cells. During his Ph.D course at the department, he has been actively involved in looking for potential natural inhibitors targeting specic kinase(s) isoform involved in the process of gliomagenesis through in-silico and in-vivo approach. He has published his work in journals of international repute. During his period of research on glioma, he collected and comprehended information in the form of this book, concerning different aspects of glioma biology to give students an inclusive and simplied information source.

Book Description

One of the highly complex and evolved systems of an animal body is the nervous system. It coordinates actions and processes sensory information by transmitting signals to and from various parts of the body. The nervous system broadly comprises two main parts, the central nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS). CNS comprising of brain and spinal cord makes us what we are. Our personality, intellect, coordination, and many other characteristics are the result of complex interactions between CNS and PNS. Information received from the environment is transmitted into the brain or spinal cord wherein the information is processed and integrated and an appropriate motor response is initiated. Cellular building blocks of the nervous system are mainly of two types; neurons and glial.
