Book Description
This book contains a collection of essays written by the author over the years. In them, he is trying to make sense of human nature as he saw and experienced it having worked a physician for long time. He is trying to make sense of issues such as why patients complain, why doctors do not listen long enough to their patients, the pains and gripes of committee chairman, why doctors tend to be narcissistic, why doctors can make diagnostic errors, how they decide on which specialty path to pursue after qualifying as doctors. He discusses some interesting but little known (outside the medical circles) facts about the dysfunctional relationships between doctors and multidisciplinary teams and the pressures junior medical staff that go beyond just long working hours that often lead to burnout.
