Book Description
Economy of a country has a bearing on the life of the citizens of that country. Every government tries to maximise the growth of its citizens through adopting various developmental measures. This is true in the case of Indian economy where government is trying to continuously improve the health of economy by way of bringing various changes in policies and by focusing on the underdeveloped sectors of the economy. During the last fifteen years, various new developments were introduced in the financial sector to improve the performance of economy. These changes affected a large section and were visible all through the financial sector including banks, tax structure, micro level financing, financial literacy or for resolving social problems through social entrepreneurship. Hence, it becomes essential to have a look into these changes which are transforming the Indian financial system to make it at par with international standards. The recent changes like introduction of GST in India, increasing coverage of financial literacy programs, entry of private players in insurance sectors etc are in themselves a major step towards integration of Indian economy with world economy and to enable it to compete with developed economies, given its vast natural and economic resources and demographic dividends. In all, thirteen research papers have been peer reviewed and found worthy of inclusion in the present volume. These papers have been contributed by scholars and academicians from different parts of the country covering the topics of Financial Literacy, GST, Microfinance, NPA management in banks, Insurance sector and other allied issues envisaging the transformations that have taken place or are initiated in all diasporas of the economy. Financial literacy is the most sought all India level program of Government of India to provide minimum level of financial and banking knowledge to every household of the country. GST is the most recent reform in indirect tax structure of the Indian economy, the impacts of which are still to be seen. Microfinance has been the heat of the financial sector in reaching to lower levels of society and enabling poor people to establish their own business with the help of financial help provided by micro finance companies. NPA management in banks have become a critical issue due to alarming rate of NPA in banks. It is expected to have a very wide impact as every section of society is associated with these banks.
