Dr. Y. Sarojini worked on marine macro algae of Visakhapatnam as a post-doctoral fellow (CSIR-RA, DST-Women Scientist, UGC- Post doctoral fellow) in the Department of Botany, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. She has twenty years of research experience on marine macro algae. She worked as a lecturer in Botany for fourteen years. She has obtained her M. Phil. and Ph. D. (CSIR-JRF, SRF) degrees on studies of marine plants. After completion of Ph. D. she has 13 years of post-doctoral research experience on the marine macro algae of Visakhapatnam coast. She has published 37 research papers in various national and international journals. She has acquired good knowledge on marine, estuarine and freshwater microalgae, their ecology, spatial, temporal and vertical distribution studies. She has published several papers on phytoplankton distribution of offshore and inshore waters of Andaman Nicobar Islands, Bay of Bengal, Krishna and Godavari estuaries. She has also studied the phytoplankton of polluted, fresh water and marine habitats. She has participated, presented several research papers on marine macro algae in national and international conferences, symposia and seminars. She is a member of Seaweed research and utilization association in India and Indian Hydrobiology.

Book Description

I gratefully thank the Almighty God, The LORD JESUS CHRIST who created the beautiful plants in their diversity, structure, colour, texture and ornamentation for Him and for his glory. He also created the plants for us to enjoy, eat, explore, experiment and to express His goodness towards us, for the welfare of human beings. I praise the LORD JESUS for his loving protection and abiding grace for all the days of my eld work at the coastal zone of Visakhapatnam. All the glory, honour and praises are offered to Him for HIS highness and majesty. I thank the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, for awarding me the postdoctoral fellowship for women candidates, during which I collected the information on marine macroalgae and its hydrography (as Part of the project). Dr. G.M.N. Rao, the Associate Professor, Department of Botany is gratefully acknowledged for his help in identication of a few species. I thank Professor B.
