Book Description

Skill education has been the buzz word for the past couple of years, but the concept of skill education is age old and has been prevalent among the traditional families. In the family run businesses, the child is always been taught and trained with the business skills which he later becomes an expert, he was made employable through the training provided by the experts running the family business. Traditional education, which is mostly a graduation degree, is more of an ornamental value to him. The model of skilling and employability of Youth is vital to study and needs to be incorporated in the skill training system. Until and unless the youth are made to be employable and expert in the vocational skills, it would be difcult for them to end up in an employment just by completing traditional schooling or graduation. It needs to be other way round. An expert in the vocational skills, with formal education is the need of the hour for the employable age youth. We need to link education to employment and only vocational skills may be a route to do so. We need to incorporate new trades and techniques thus introducing robust growth and success to the vocational training programs. Whatever the government initiates must be done on the basis of grass root research and detailed study of the implications that it may have on the well being of the youth. The underlying study mainly address the issues and the objectives that may be contrary to the tall claims made by ofcial agencies in respect to the success of the Vocational training programs sponsored by the state and central agencies. The ground result may still not depict the owery picture with contrast colors as being done in the glossy magazines, broachers and the ofcial sponsored websites. The study primarily explores the beneciaries in response to the training that they had undergone and its impacts on the life of the subjects in terms of Social upliftment and economic prosperity. The study touches one of the important aspects of creating employability in the youth in contrast to the dynamics of the employment market and business world. Also a perspective of the Global markets and youth employment has been taken note of, so that the status of the national growth and prosperity can be adjudged with international markets. The study takes a quick look into the international scenario that vastly affects the local market due to the global policy of the nation of late and a great amount of import and export taking place between the allies' countries. It may not just end here but the great economic impact the partner countries have on each other makes a lot of upheaval in the job and related skill market. The changing technology and the relevant progress in the eld of IT and automation make it difcult at times to match strides with the global scenario. The study has touched the remotest areas that affects the skill market with its historic background of typing and shorthand being the major skill sector for youth from education sector and mechanical, electronic skill for the ones inclined more towards the hardcore physical skill market, before the arrival of Computers and wave of automation that swept away the lasting changes in the economy and redesigned the job market to a great extent. The research is a journey through the past few decades, searching for answers, looking hard for solutions with keeping a strict alignment to the objectives that relates to motivation, factors and challenges that the skill sector encounters, while matching the strides with the global dynamics. Note: The study is based on the pre Covid situation and elaborates the factors that are valid in the past and the future era, both pre and post pandemic. Also it is to be noted that the reference city for the research has been Indore, M.P. an ideal II tier city
