Book Description

In every society there are some structures and systems. Proper study of these structures requires an understanding of the interdependence of institutions in their society. The rural social structure is not an isolated phenomenon and it should be studied with the help of the methods applied by the Sociologists and Social Anthropologists while studying rural social structure, human groups, human behavior, and other social institutions, are interested in analyzing the interaction between man and his society. Rural social structure is not a new but one social structure is differs from others which has developed as course of time over the rural setting. The material available on social structure is rather field based and this volume is the outcome of my Ph.D work . The present volume is an endeavor to fill the gap to a certain extent in respect of rural setting. The volume opens with a discussion on the subject matter of social structure and in subsequent chapters deals with some indifferent rural setting in respect of rural social structure with the entries of major developmental forces like Panchayati Raj and other developmental forces which leads the change in rural structure. The book also finds interdependence within their neighbours with a view to provide healthy atmosphere. I am sure, this volume will be use to the teachers, researchers and the taught. I do not, however, rule out the scope for further improvements in the book and, therefore invite suggestions from the readers. I extend my indebted to my colleague Sri Mukunda Mishra, Asstt. Professor, Dept of Geography of my College for his generous suggestions and inspiration. I am thankful to my wife Muktara Hoque and my daughter Eram Firdous Hoque for their encouragement to write this volume.
