Book Description
Tooth loss is a traumatic, even devastating occurrence; and this has doubtlessly been true throughout the human history. In early ancient times i.e in 1000 B.C Hebrews' considered teeth as the symbol of strength and loss of them was equated with weakness and infirmity. Thus the trend of replacing the missing teeth began. Teeth can be replaced either by removable partial denture, fixed partial denture or implant supported fixed prosthesis. Removable partial denture is indicated when few teeth are remaining that are not suitable for supporting fixed partial denture. With the advent of new techniques, materials and the high expectations of the patient, fixed restorations have become popular. Implants are the best option as it substitutes for the root of missing tooth and anchors the crown which replaces the missing tooth.
