for the Post Graduate Social Work students. She participated and presented conceptual
and scientic papers in National and International Conferences and published 8
articles in International Peer Reviewed Journals, 3 articles in National Journals and 4
articles in edited books. She pursued professional counselling training at Anugraha, Dindigul and renders
professional counselling to the college and school students. She has robust experience with Tamil Nadu Police, as a
Master Trainer for Tamil Nadu Police Wellbeing Programme-Madurai City; a Resource Person for In-Service
Training Center, Madurai City Police; Tele Counsellor for Tamil Nadu Police and their family during COVID19 and
Family Counsellor at the Family Counselling Center, Madurai Ofce, Superintendent of Police. She was trained in
the Psychosocial aspects for the Police Wellbeing Programme in NIMHANS. She had done courses on Community
Mental Health, Perinatal Mental Health and Basic Addiction Management at NIMHANS. She was a Review Team
Member in Indian Council for Child Welfare, Chennai. She is a student counsellor in St. Joseph's Matriculation
Higher Secondary School, Madurai. She was a Life Skill Trainer for rst time offenders in Madurai Central Prison
and also previously worked as a Rehabilitation Ofcer in the Association for Social Health in India, Madurai
Chapter. She was acknowledged with a Record of Achievement on COVID19 Health Emergencies Programme
virtually by the World Health Organization. She is a Board of Studies Member and External Examiner in The
American College, Madurai, Thassim Beevi Abdul Kader College for Women, Kilakarai, Madurai Institute of
Social Sciences and Thiyagarajar College, Madurai. She is the Project Guide and Guest Lecturer in the School of
Social Sciences, Tamil Nadu Open University, Madurai Region. She is a Life Member in Indian Society of

Dr. J.O. Jeryda Gnanajane Eljo | Dr.J.O.Jeryda Gnanajane Eljo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social
Work since June 2008. Specialized in Medical & Psychiatry and working with
Children, Adolescents and Mental Health. She has produced 11 Ph.D. and 17 M.Phil.
Scholars. She has completed a UGC Minor Research Project on "Study Habits among
Slum Children in Tiruchirappalli". She has participated and presented 42 scientic
papers in various National and International Conferences and published 68 articles in
International Peer Reviewed Journals, 31 in National Journals and 49 articles in edited
books. She is the reviewer of Springer Journal –"Journal of Community Health".
Developed a "School Mental Health Inventory" (2017). She was the Director i/c of
Students Counselling and Grievances Redressal Cell of Bharathidasan University. She has established a Child
Guidance and Counselling Centre and provides free counseling services to school. She has organized 2 International
Conferences and 2 National level workshops. She is one of the Subject Expert and Core Committee Member for
drafting Tamil Nadu State Policy for Children during the year 2015 to 2017. She is the Coordinator of Linnaeus
Palme International Teachers and Students Exchange Programme of the Department and visited University West in
Sweden in 2019 for planning visit. Previously she worked for 12 years in Department of Social Work, Cauvery
College for Women, Tiruchirappalli. She had visited UMEA University in Sweden as a Full time visiting Lecturer
from the Department of Social Work under Linnaeus Palme International Teachers Exchange Programme for 5
weeks (May to June 2008) and has travelled to Paris, Rome and Venice. |
Book Description
Glad to inscribe the foreword for the book on Psychosocial Profile of Children in Conflict with Law, a doctoral research done by Dr.Rohini.R, which contributes enormous social signicance in identifying the psychosocial factors pertaining to the welfare of children in conict with law. The efforts to publish this book is appreciated robustly. Introduction of this book gives a clear understanding on who are considered to be the children in conict with law. It throws light on the factors inuencing delinquent behaviours among children and also gives a detailed description on the crimes committed by the children. The reformation approaches towards the delinquent behaviours among juveniles were explained clearly. This book interestingly expounds the welfare mechanism of Indian juveniles from reformation to restorative approaches in time line of pre- to post-colonial period. The institutionalized rehabilitation homes for children in conict with law was well elucidated with appropriate details. The psychosocial prole of the children in conict with law was scientically studied with the sociological factors and the psychological factors. The theoretical framework was supported with suitable theories. The literature was reviewed excellently to conceptualize the causal factor for delinquency. The search of literatures was sincerely and needfully extended to review on the psychological factors and psychosocial factors, to trace the prevailing research gap. The research was processed with appropriate methodology that suits the study with needed criteria. The data was analyzed and the ndings clearly depicts the association and relationship between the variables chosen and the hypothesis was veried. The book effectively suggests the preventive measures and rehabilitative measures for the children in conict with law to reunite with their family and society with dignity. Recommendations were highly relevant to promote the mental health of children and will benet the various stake holders associated in this regard. The book elaborately elucidates the importance of Social Work Intervention with adequate information pertaining to the welfare measures, which will motivate the institutions to appoint more social workers. The suggestions for future study provide clear path for the future researchers and readers to promote research and understand the psychosocial prole of children in conict with law in several other dimensions. The book concludes well with the needful information for the holistic wellbeing on the psychosocial prole or children in conict with law. Trusting that this book will be the guiding light for the future researchers, social workers, child welfare reformers and students for their better understanding on the children in conict with law.
