Book Description
This investigation has been made to comprehend the process of socialization lived by a girl, boy or teenager who gets into a gang. The method of construction of the subject under study has been used doing three approaches. Firstable, an approach has been made with girls, boys and teenagers (NNA in Spanish), who live in communities and institutions environments with gang members, who are their friends and with whom they interact daily. With this rst group of girls, boys and teenagers a questionnaire was applied to get their opinions on how gangs are, how are gang members and which factors and circumstances make them to get into those groups. The purpose of the questionnaire was to produce quantitative and descriptive information about the factors that intervene on the entering of girls, boys and teenagers into a gang. A second approach was made with persons who directly know the phenomenon of gangs because whether they are neighbors or relatives of gang members. Social investigators or people from institutions that work on the topic of gangs were included in this second approach, who shared their opinions from the reality they live or that has been under their research, about the members of gangs, giving details of how are their lives and which factors may lead them to enter into a gang. Qualitative information was produced about the socialization process of those who enter a gang. Finally, in a third and direct approach with those people who do the activities under investigation, members of gangs were interviewed to know their reality, how their lives have been, the memories they do about their families and the inuences they have received, in order to build how has been their socialization and how was being built their decision to enter a gang, as well as the interpretation and the meaning they give to a gang.
