Dr. Subhendu Ghosh | Dr. Subhendu Ghosh is a young and energetic researcher in
the field of geography. He has been teaching, researching
and writing different academic books and now working on
Micro geomorphology and Landforms Evolution. He got
M.Sc. in Geography from Vidyasagar University and stood
Second. He did Ph.D. from Tripura University (a central
university) and obtained B.Ed. degree from Vidyasagar
University. He also completed Diploma in Computer Application (DCA) from
WEBEL. He studied RS-GIS in post graduate level. He was a member of organizing
committee of some national and international seminar and actively participated in
many workshops, seminars on geography and environment.. He successfully
performed a duty of guest teacher in Ghatal Rabindrasatabarshiki College. He had
published a numbers of papers in national and international journal and also wrote
chapters in books He is now working as a convener of publication committee of
Tropical Institute of Earth And Environmental Research (TIEER) and performed the
duty as District secretary of Bangiyo Bhugol Mancha, Kolkata. He is now acting as a
state resource person for In-service Teacher's Training Programme on geography
under SSM, Govt. of West Bengal. |
Book Description
The study of geomorphology is a core and integral part of geography. The changing pattern of various landforms spatially and temporally has become a greater aspect of geo-environmental study today. The physical agents responsible for the change of micro level landforms is now extensively focused part in landform study. This book consists of evolution, shape and classification of landforms in tropical badlands of Medinipur West. The book also deals with the characteristics of land degradation by development and extension of rill and gully which is really going to become a serious environmental hazard in India. During the preparation of chapterization of the book, I have been benefited from numerous individuals. First and foremost, I would like to record my deep debt of gratitude to Late Dr. Sudip Dey, Asst. Professor in Geography, Tripura University who had been a constant source of technical advice and encouragement in my success. I am also grateful to Dr. Sunil Kumar De,Professor of Geography,NEHU, Sillong for his advice and constant support. I would like to express my gratitude to all the people attached with me, for their special helps and encouragements. I also extend my gratitude to my friend Dr Pranab Sahoo,Asst. This book is intended as a text of tropical gully morphology essential for the students of geography and the persons who are eager to know about landscape change due to gully erosion.
