Dr. Pintu Mahakul is an Indian freelance writer, poet, philosopher, researcher and social activist born at village Gandam of Deogarh district in Indian state of Odisha. He is educationally B.Pharm, M.B.A, Ph. D. and D. Litt. (Business Administration).He is Alumni of Berhampur University. His books are catalogued in reputed libraries and universities of the world and poems are reviewed by internationally renowned poets and authors. Dr. Pintu has received many honours from different organizations for his literary ability and social activities, award and title of Pragyanpurusha. He has received Rajiv Gandhi Prativa Puraskar in 2008. He has been frequently placed on top ranking poets of the world. He has got the higher rank #363 on top 500 poets of the world as per the World Poetry Database Information published in Poem Hunter on date 06 October 2020. He is also frequently featured in Home Page of Poem Hunter as one of the top most popular poets from India. Basically he focuses on spirituality based management and stress related issues of employees and people. His spiritual management research articles are published in world reputed international journals. He has proposed few model theories for management. He has attended many spiritual, cultural and social programmes on invitation of people and organizations in the state and outside as speaker. Prof. Satyanarayan Pathi
Professor Satyanarayan Pathi (Ph. D.) is a professor of Business Administration in Berhampur University; Odisha, who has taken birth in 1961 at Pandarakhali village of Ganjam district in Indian state of Odisha. He has worked as Head of the Department of Business Administration, Berhampur University (2000-2002), Chairman, Board of Studies in Department of Business Administration, Coordinator, PG Diploma in Management and Warden for P.G Hostels etc. He has attended many National and International Seminars and Conferences. He has produced many successful Ph.D. and D.litt. Scholars. His research articles are published in National and world reputed International Journals and in Edited Books. He has scripted and edited many books of high repute. His academic excellence is not only limited to teaching but also he has become question setter for OPSC in OAS examination, question setter for Utkal University, Fakir Mohan University, Sambalpur University and Kolhan University. Prof. Pathi has also worked as External Examiner for Ph.D. of Allagappa University, Madras and Andhra University, Visakhpatnam, Banaras Hindu University of Varanasi and GITAM University of Visakhapatanam. He is life member of Odisha Commerce Association and member of Odisha Management Association. He is a member of Syndicate of Berhampur University. Growing rate of stress is reected in attitudes of employees and it is noticed that in workplace clumsy situation arises time to time. An employee faces many troubles during both favourable and unfavourable conditions. Due to high stress and anxiety employees sometimes loss control over themselves and they feel that their work is not satisfactory. During this modern age rapid degradation of values and morality is observed and this has given rise to various brutal activities leading ahead of conicts and violence frequently. Due to such situation it increases the workplace tension and an employee feels uncomfortable and unpleasant sensation while he works. Sometimes more work pressure also gives rise to stress. Stress captures the mind and signs are reected in body. A highly stressed person nowhere gets stability, happiness or satisfaction. Stress is difcult to cure by medication and other available remedies. Therefore we focus in workplace spirituality which becomes the remedy for such trouble. The realization for research work comes after having a brief literature review. It is identied that there is trouble in negative attitudes shown by employees. Various reports show that in many cases few bank employees show fraudulent behavior, express anger, unpleasant mood and irregularity in providing service to customers. Such activity of them not only hampers the customer services but also degrades the status of employees and this creates a stressful working condition for them and for others. Such behaviour expresses high stress at work and this provokes thought. Banks are the nancial institutions and there is risk always related to nancial services. If employees do not behave well then people lose faith on them. That is why it is important to deal employees in workplace with respect to spirituality to create a highly pleasant, stress-free environment. Employees become aware about their selves and recognize the true purpose of life and work when they start walking in spiritual path. In certain mode of life this realization comes that every individual is conscious and having specic purpose. To assess stress to deal properly we need to notice the human behaviours and it is important to identify the nature of human attitudes. Here we proceed to eradicate the negative attitudes from workplace and to observe development of positive attitudes of employees. So that clumsy situation will go away gradually and employees will improve with values with the improvement of power of patience and tolerance. Such improvement generally guides life to feel stress less and feel happiness more. Identifying the problem in stress in workplace we search for spiritual solution to handle it. This formulates the theme of this research work. Spirituality is only the way which guides human beings from inside. This helps in giving true recognition to the self. Employees in workplace not only work by hands but also with effort from true mind. For development of both mental and physical effectiveness spiritual guidance to them with true universal principles is 3 necessary. This helps in building moral, ethical, social, cultural and spiritual values within themselves. All scriptures truly guide humanity. Life does not restrict to mere talk. Life is full of responsibilities that every human being should realize. The creator has xed works in life and nobody can escape from it. At each moment we are associated with any work. But every human being has the freedom of doing work. The Holy Gita says that unfavorable conditions come and go like winter and summer come and go and these are not permanent. We should learn to tolerate and there is no alternative to avoid unfavourable conditions. Through tolerance only we can overcome. The Holy Bible also states that we get stress from unfavourable conditions or from various troubles. But we need patience to face these and we should trust on God. He gives us power to overcome these by empowering our inner selves. That is why human attitudes related to working capacity matter a lot. While an employee practices spirituality in life gradually he understands the true laws of action and reaction and becomes cautious in workplace while performing actions. As per specication of the Holy Qur'an a person realizes that everybody has to work and there is no alternative because nobody can bear the burden of another. Through work we take advantage of earnings and take care of family, children and relatives to maintain their social life. Many principles from Buddhism and Jainism and Sikhism and other religions teach us to do earning by righteous manner and maintain a spiritually balanced life. To have deep idea about increasing productivity we need to study the human attitudes and make the human resources free from stress by the help of practice of spirituality. This study highlights the importance of practice of spirituality in workplace to handle stress. After a brief review with spiritual and scriptural resources and books the problems are well identied and solutions are found. The views of many authors are taken into account with proper citation for assessment of workplace spirituality and its effectiveness that helps in controlling stress. Thorough investigation is done through primary data collection with suitable questionnaires and evaluated by various tools and techniques available in statistics. The study is focused on bank employees of Odisha State in India. This study has come towards conclusion giving sufcient emphasis that workplace spirituality greatly helps in stress management. Many researchers will denitely get new ideas from the recommendations and highlight the importance of such study. They will not only open the new directions ahead but also realize the true essence of such study in their each step of work. We hope this complete thesis has given satisfaction and this will denitely be benecial for many.
