Book Description
Earlier the current control strategy had harmonic detector which aims to extract harmonic components at load side whose output is sent as reference filter current for active power filter (APF). The harmonic detector uses filters such as high-pass, low-pass, adaptive filters or through complex mathematical functions. This may have an adverse effect on both the accuracy and response of APF. Hence an advanced current control strategy is being used in shunt APF to enhance its performance. The proposed current control strategy is developed based on PI plus Vector PI controller and is implemented in fundamental reference frame. The absence of harmonic detector simplifies the control scheme and improves the accuracy of APF since the control performance is not being affected by the harmonic tracking process. Instead of six-switch three-phase inverter (SSTPI) one can make use of four-switch three-phase inverter (FSTPI) which gives improved results. In the proposed APF the usage of current sensors is minimized. The proposed control scheme is analyzed using MATLAB Software.
