Book Description
Medical tourism is the term given to the phenomena of people travelling to another country seeking medical treatment. India is among the top three destinations for medical tourism in Asia- along with Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia which accounted for 60 % of Asian revenue through Health Care. Medical tourism can be broadly defined as provision of ‘cost effective’ private medical care in collaboration with the tourism industry for patients needing surgical and other forms of specialized treatment. Medical tourism refers to traveling to other countries to obtain medical, dental, and surgical treatment. At the same time they could also tour, and fully experience the attractions of the countries they visit. Exorbitant costs of Health Care in industrialized nations, ease and affordability of international travel, favorable currency exchange rates in the global economy, rapidly improving technology and standards of care in many countries of the world, and most importantly proven safety of Health Care in selected foreign nations have led to the rise of medical tourism in India.
