Meghna Basu Thakur | Prof Meghna Basu Thakur is currently the Head of the Undergraduate
Psychology Department at the R. D. National College, and now at the
brink of her Ph.D.
She is always hungry for new knowledge in the field of psychology and
enjoys teaching students and encouraging them to conduct research and
engage in further learning. She has worked on a number of projects with
Dr. Avinash De Sousa who has mentored her in studies on various aspects
of human behavior resulting in more than 30 research papers presented at national and international
conferences as well as 15 research publications.
She believes that we're all students and always learning and evolving in the field of Psychology. |

Avinash De Sousa | Dr. Avinash De Sousa is a consultant psychiatrist and psychotherapist with
a private practice in Mumbai. He is an avid reader and has over 480
publications in national and international journals. His main areas of
interest are alcohol dependence, consciousness, brain stimulation,
neurobiology and child and adolescent psychiatry. He teaches psychiatry,
child psychology and psychotherapy at over 18 institutions as a visiting
faculty. He is also the founder trustee of Desousa Foundation – an
organization aimed at spreading mental health awareness, training and
education across all sectors. He is one of the few psychiatrists who, in addition to a post graduation in
psychiatry has earned a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy, an MBA in Human Resource
Development, a Masters in Religion and Philosophy, an M.Phil in Applied Psychology, and a
doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the UK. He juggles his time between his academic and
research pursuits while also handling a private practice. |
Book Description
It is with great pride and pleasure that we present before our readers this edition of Recent Trends and Advances in Psychology. The book has 15 chapters each on diverse topics that encompass comprehensive reviews as well as original research work. The aim of this edition is to keep readers up to date with the recent trends in psychology and the progress made over the years while providing a recap of basic concepts and theories as well.
