Dr.S.Senthilkumar is working as Assistant Professor, Department
of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education,
Veterinary College and Research Institute, Tirunelveli. Basically a
Veterinary Graduate, he did his M.V.Sc. in Animal Husbandry
Extension at Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences
University (TANUVAS), Chennai and Ph.D. in Veterinary
Extension Education at Indian Veterinary Research Institute
(IVRI), Uttar Pradesh.
His work experience includes teaching, research and extension.
He started his career as Senior Research Fellow in NATP Project on “Strategies for enhancing
the productivity of pigs for the farming community” at Livestock Research Station,
TANUVAS. He completed three research projects as a Principal Investigator and three
research projects as Co-Principal Investigator. Now, he engaged in the NABARD sponsored
research project on “Development of mobile based technology transfer application system to
empower the small ruminant farmers in Tirunelveli district” as a Principal Investigator. He
contributed chapters in 5 books and published about more than 20 research articles, 4
educational video lessons. |
Book Description
Based on the know-how of NABARD sponsored research project on “Popularisation of Azolla as low cost supplemental cattle feed among the dairy farmers of Tirunelveli District, Azolla - A Low Cost Supplemental Calttle Feed was developed. This book was well constructed with interesting topics like what is Azolla and its importance of inclusion in dairy cattle feed, How to produce Azolla in the farmers filed and its prototype, Practical experience of cultivation of Azolla through method demonstration, Impact of Azolla - Low Cost Supplemental Cattle Feed in term of production performance of selected dairy Cattle, Assessed the cost - benefit ratio for the low cost supplemental cattle feed – Azolla and Adoption of Azolla Cultivation in the Farmers' Field etc., Moreover, inclusion of colour photos pertaining to demonstration of Azolla cultivation in the farmers filed were value addition to this monograph.. The author would like to thank to the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Chennai for the financial assistance and encouragement for the successful completion of the project. With all sincerity, I thank Dr.M.Thirunavukkarasu, Registrar, TANUVAS, Chennai for agreeing to publish this book and kind enough to write the foreword.
