Mr. M. John Paul | Lecturer in Botany Mr. M. John Paul is lecturer in Botany at Government
Degree College, Vidavalur. He did M.Sc, Botany in Nagarjuna University,
Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India. He is working as research scholar in Botany,
Research and Development Centre, Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore. He
published 5 research papers in national and international journals. He
attended many national seminars in India .He is the recipient of international

Book Description
The Eastern Ghats are reported to cover an area of about 75,000Km2 with an average of width of 200Kms North and 100Kms in the South.A maximum area of about 48% of Eastern Ghats falls in Andhra Pradesh. While in Orissa and Tamil Nadu almost equally of about 25% each and the remaining 2% pass through Karnataka.It has a length of 1, 750Km.The average elevation is about 750m,throuth the individual peaks may rise up to a height of 1,675m from the mean sea level(msl). The Nallamalais hill ranges runs to a length of 150Km, covers an area of 7,640Km2. It occupies parts of districts of Kurnool, Mahaboob Nagar,Prakasam, and Kadapa district. The Veligonda hill ranges, extended to a length of 170 Km in a North to South direction between Kadapa and Nellore districts starting from the Kurnool and Prakasam boarders in the North and Chittor and Tamil Nadu boarders in the South.The Veligonda and its adjoining ranges comprising of Palakonda,Lankamalla,Seshachalam and terminal part of Nallamalai form the mid region of Southern Eastern Ghats.The Seshachalam hill ranges that include Balapalli, Nagari,Kambakam,and Horsely hills occur in the Chittor district. There is an urgent need for documenting all the research work done so far on Southern Eastern Ghats.Traditional Knowledge System,Indigious Knowledge System,Indigious Agricultural Knowledge,Traditional Ecological Knowledge, and modern concepts especially tradition taxonomist this section of chapters very useful for conservation of Southern Eastern Ghats.
